(Now that I have finally read "Children's Crusade" from start to finish--I had to purchase the graphic novel--I can now really appreciate this work to its fullest. I'm so impressed at the degree of emotions expressed in each panel. First one is passive with Tommy puzzled at Billy's inaction; second is more active, and god that last one...just overflowing but so great. I dream of writing such an emotional capture. Thank you for sharing this with us, Cris!)
This is so well done. What really gets me about this part is how emotionally-strong Teddy is, being able to comfort Billy even while he must be torn apart inside as well. I don't feel angry at Billy, since most of us would be just like him in that position - trust me, I've been there. It just makes me all the more impressed with Teddy, and this is the first piece of art (or anything actually) I've seen that addressed Teddy's huge heart during the time after Stature's death. Amazing job on the art and amazing insight as well!
